Our Vision

Origins of P46

Paraclete46 was founded by David and Holly Hughes in February of 2013. The name of the ministry is taken from the Latin Paracletus meaning advocate or helper. The Biblical use is the Greek word ‘Paraclete’, meaning the the Holy Spirit as advocate or counselor (John 14:16, 26). The number 46 was David Hughes jersey number during 6 years of playing professional football for the Seattle Seahawks.

David & Holly Hughes

David and Holly Hughes were both raised in Hawaii. After they married, David played six years in the NFL and Holly danced and taught Hula professionally. They both received Christ on the same day after a few years of studying the Bible. David and Holly have been in full-time ministry since 1999, and David served as Missions Pastor at Antioch Bible Church from 2001 to 2013. Their oldest daughter, Lahela is a missionary with Hellenic Ministries and lives in Greece along with her family. In early 2013, the Lord called them to begin Paraclete46, with a focus on encouraging and equipping athletes in the inner city of Seattle. The ministry's current focus is the Rainier Beach High School football team and their families.

Purpose of the Ministry

The purpose of our ministry is to reach out to student athletes and their families in the Rainier Valley to bring hope and opportunity through the “living out of the Gospel” through word and real life examples, sports, education and community involvement. We humbly seek to fulfill this ministry through sports and coaching, and direct involvement in the personal and athletic lives of the students and athletes.
